about

Awake O’ Sleeper was my first full length and the exclamation mark after a long battle with fear. It was mastered by Kramer (danielson, gwar, daniel johnston). It was well reviewed and I’m proud of it.

Destroy Nate Allen (original bio)

Who is Nate Allen might you ask? Why do I want to destroy him? The answer is simple, you might not have to – he’s on a pace to destroy himself.

For two years, Nate Allen has been traveling the west coast in anyway imaginable (buses, trains and hitch-hiking are just the start!) to deliver his brutally honest form of folk rock to anyone who would listen, all while holding down his day job bagging groceries.

In between (and sometimes on) tours Nate has produced a growlingly impressive and prolific discography. This year alone he is slated to release six records, the latest of which, his debut full length - Awake O’ Sleeper, is the cause for celebration!

Awake, features: 10 songs self-recorded by Nate in San Francisco, at night after work and will be his fifth release with Portland D.I.Y. Collective Quiver Society (Soul Junk) and the first to bear his new moniker Destroy Nate Allen. Sticking to his D.I.Y ethics, Nate has decided to release Awake FOR FREE!

With songs ranging from brooding country and exuberant folk punk to introspective indie rock and at times even gospel, Awake O’ Sleeper is easily Nate’s finest work to date. The record which was mastered by Kramer (Butthole Surfers, Half-Japanese, Danielson, GWAR) will be released Oct. 7th and followed immediately by a two week tour etched out along Greyhound routes from San Francisco to Vancouver, Canada and back.

After a winter of regional shows and planning in March 2007 Destroy Nate Allen will quit his day job and embark on a 120 date national tour.

Holiday (Capo 1)

G C D G
Do you remember dreams birth long ago in the innocence of youth
G C D G
And the grace we once believed in we treated as the truth
G C D G
Well this pain just keeps pushing me from the things that I love
G C D G
And the promise of tomorrow I’ve been dreaming of

G C D G
Have you ever left hope far behind in pursuit of anything
G C D G
Or felt after the day that things just weren’t as they seem
G C D G
Well today I grant permission yes this is your reprieve
G C D G
To set fire to the system, rebuild your broken dreams

C G C G
We’re gonna celebrate the new year holiday without any fear
C D G C D G
We’re gonna celebrate the new year dance until we disappear

G C D G
If you’re looking for some answers well I’ll probably disappoint
G C D G
And if you think you’ve found salvation well you might have missed the point
G C D G
But I know a redeemer who’s so faithful and true
G C D G
And if you have some questions he’ll answer them for you

C G C G
We’re gonna celebrate the new year holiday without any fear
C D G C D G
We’re gonna celebrate the new year dance until we disappear

Holidays no holiday without you truths is not as distant as it seems
C D G
And there’s a certain-mount of living without wisdom

C D G
Comes when we erase our dreams

C G C G
We’re gonna celebrate the new year holiday without any fear

This is the message that is preached
D C G D
We can be free if we confess our sins and choose to believe

And if his word does not live in us we’ll die in the fire

This is the last song that you’ll hear
G D G
This is the last time that I give away my fears

G D
And this is the message I have feared since I was born

And for once in my life remove all of this doubt

This is the last song that you’ll hear
