about

I relate to Jerry Lee Lewis as someone who very publicly struggled to put the pieces of faith and rock n' roll together, so I named this song for him. I am a Christian. I say this now because it helps this song make sense. Just typing those words scares me to death. I am afraid you'll reject me. The chorus is taken from a church song, that I find myself singing after I've had a bad show. Watching our June tour plans fall apart because of sickness was surreal and hard but not nearly as hard a putting this song on this record. I went back and forth dozens of times but here it is. This is who I am.

lyrics

Chorus:
My identity is secure in Christ and Christ alone
I am made whole and made complete
I'm gonna shake that dust off of my feet
I'm gonna shake that dust off and be made complete

Is that you speaking Lord? What is this season for?
Is that you talking as I'm walking out the door? as I'm walking out the door!

chorus

Well I'm lacking confidence! Nothings making any sense?
Yes I'm looking forward as my dreams fall through the floor! As my dreams fall through the floor

chorus

If my identity's secure, then why am I'm feeling insecure?
If my identity's complete then why am I shaken in my feet?
So maybe, maybe I should stop and take some time,
to look inside me and see what has broken down see what has broken down

chorus

so I'm setting fire to ever learning how to Seek my identity
in how people make me feel, how people make me feel

chorus
